Team Lead - Dosimetrist

The Dosimetrist Team Lead develops and produces radiation oncology treatment plans per physician prescription. Works diligently with the radiation oncologist utilizing all available computerized and/or manual treatment planning tools, and researches patients needs and develops the best treatment plans for their patients. Performs related radiation dosimetry functions that include Brachytherapy (if applicable), treatment consultation, imaging, and teaching responsibilities. Under the direction of the Manager, assists in managing the dosimetry work unit. Duties include, but are not limited to: dosimetry policy management, related consulting activities, and ongoing educational commitments of the area. The Lead coordinates assignments for dosimetrist duties and manages PTO requests to ensure coverage. Coordinates development and communication of procedural documentation and training material as well as clinical training of dosimetrists. The Lead also coordinates credentialing for different procedures and maintains records of competency assessments. Audits clinical documentation produced by dosimetrists and coordinates other peer review activities. Provides for representation of dosimetry on departmental committees. The Lead is to provide support to ancillary personnel to assist in dosimetry planning or patient scanning to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care in a professional and efficient manner. Ensures that teamwork and issues of mutual respect are understood and pursued. Assists the Manager and Head of Clinical Physics with contingency planning for current and future dosimetry development. Develops schedules for and participates in the routine completion of treatment planning, consulting, and scanning duties. Provides teaching instruction to Fellows, Residents, and students.
JRCERT accredited program in Radiation Therapy or successful completion of an advanced level two-year medical Dosimetry Training Program. Minimum of five years of dosimetry experience.
Ability to learn and apply complex procedures, thorough knowledge of radiation oncology, and strong human relation skills with experience in interacting with a diverse group required. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously with efficiency required. Ability to communicate effectively and use good decision making and judgment capabilities required. Previous leadership experience preferred.
Must be registered by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (CMD certification).
