As a Project Engineer II, you'll assist in developing and implementing integrated plans for product development including coordinating activities throughout the product lifecycle from design concept phase to release. You will monitor the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters, as needed. You'll also review, manage, proactively challenge, and control status of project programs and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports, and guide and lead teams in achieving the goals of the program including issue identification, resolution and contingency planning.


Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is seeking a dynamic and skilled Lead Engineer to play a critical role in the research, design, development, testing, certification, deployment, and improvement of cutting-edge products and services. This role will involve leading a team to design and test advanced autonomous aircraft and missile systems, managing the product life-cycle from subsystem design through to fully integrated systems. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft. This role is essential in ensuring that Sierra Nevada Corporation continues to deliver high-quality, innovative products that meet the needs of our customers and contribute to national defense.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Key Responsibilities of the Missile Integration and Test IPT:

  • Integration and Testing Solutions: Plan, implement, and maintain solutions for integrating and testing missile subsystems and complete missile systems.
  • Document all processes and maintain thorough records to ensure traceability and repeatability.

Test and Evaluation:

  • Develop and execute missile system test and evaluation plans for systems under development.
  • Ensure that test solutions align with customer contractual needs and requirements, while adhering to technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Specification and Standards:

  • Establish functional and technical specifications and standards for missile systems.
  • Address hardware/software interface issues and define input/output parameters to ensure seamless integration of the entire system or subsystem.

Test Plans and Procedures:

  • Review, evaluate, and derive requirements for testability.
  • Develop and oversee the preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for complete systems and/or subsystems.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate subsystem and/or system testing activities with other programs and organizations within the company.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication across teams to maintain alignment and efficiency.

Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze test results and prepare comprehensive evaluation reports at the subsystem and system levels.
  • Verify and validate system performance against defined requirements.

Discrepancy Reports and Regression Testing:

  • Write detailed discrepancy reports documenting any issues identified during testing.
  • Perform integration regression testing to verify and validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems, and systems.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or other related discipline and typically 8 or more years of relevant experience in a related field of study
