The Sr Manager, Cobrand Risk Management leads the long‑term strategy, performance optimization, and risk governance for American’s Cobrand credit card program, which is one of the largest in the world, and managed in partnership with Citigroup. The leader in this role partners closely with senior executives and external partners (e.g., Citigroup, Mastercard) to shape program direction, drive analytical insights, and influence major strategic decisions. You will also provide leadership across complex initiatives and develop the frameworks, talent, and capabilities that elevate Cobrand risk management across the organization.

  • Drive the long‑term strategic vision for American’s Cobrand Risk Management strategy across its portfolio of credit card products , ensuring alignment with enterprise commercial priorities and partner objectives
  • Lead the development of multi‑year risk management, performance, and growth strategies across the Cobrand ecosystem, influencing decision‑making at the VP and SVP levels
  • Assess risk decisioning and impact to Cobrand performance through reviewing partner new account strategy, account management strategy and non-scoring models
  • Serve as the primary thought leader on emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and risks  impacting Cobrand partnerships
  • Partner with senior executives across Finance, Loyalty, Network Planning, Revenue Management, and Legal to shape the future direction of American’s Cobrand programs
  • Develop and present complex analyses and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, translating insights into clear actions that drive portfolio performance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners to align on risk appetite, performance expectations, and long‑term strategic goals of the cobrand program
  • Oversee high‑impact analytical initiatives evaluating portfolio health, customer behavior, program profitability, and  exposure to risks
  • Guide teams in developing advanced forecasting models, scenario analyses, and risk assessments to support strategic planning and partner negotiations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team while establishing best‑in‑class processes and governance frameworks for Cobrand risk management
  • Oversee complex, enterprise‑level initiatives and business cases that shape major partnership decisions and drive operational excellence across 

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in risk management with a credit card issuer.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the credit card industry and direct competitors' products and services.
  • Proven ability to lead complex analyses, validate assumptions and deliver executive-level insights.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience in credit strategic planning, financial analysis, and partnership management.
  • Familiarity with cobrand credit card programs and strategic alliances.
  • MBA or advanced degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience developing content for senior leadership or board-level audiences.
