The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) Employment Standards Program is conducting rulemaking to implement changes passed last year to the Equal Pay and Opportunities Act.
The new laws update the act’s wage and salary disclosure requirements. They also establish guidelines for when an employer can require a valid driver’s license as a condition of employment or include a statement in a job posting that an applicant must have a valid driver’s license.
The amendments were included in Substitute Senate Bill 5408 and Substitute Senate Bill 5501 during the 2025 legislative session.
As a result, the Employment Standards Program is defining terms and requirements and clarifying applicability, enforcement, and penalties through the rulemaking process to reflect statutory change
