Overview
At Houston Methodist, the Senior (Sr) Staffing Analyst position is responsible for functioning as the subject matter expert for staffing analysts. The Sr Staffing Analyst must be well versed on the requirements of the Staffing Analyst position in addition to the requirements of this position. This position is directly responsible for advanced analysis of staffing needs and optimizing internal processes to effectively schedule employees to meet those needs. In addition to performing the duties of the Staffing Analyst, this position will effectively train other staffing analysts on internal operating procedures to ensure the department can effectively identify staffing demand, schedule employees effectively and balance schedules according to need and unit characteristics. The Sr Staffing Analyst position requires advanced critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently and make autonomous staffing decisions based on an advanced understanding of hospital throughput and staffing needs for multiple hospital unit types or clinical care areas. This position evaluates current and future staffing needs and performs daily/weekly/extended staffing to fill nursing care needs and communicates the staffing to the different departments. The Sr Staffing Analyst position communicates and distributes reports to leadership for determining team productivity and staff utilization ensuring compliance with scheduling and time and attendance policies and procedures by both employees and managers, within schedules and timecards. This position analyzes and prepares information to assist in controlling overall staffing costs and employee engagement regarding staffing and scheduling. The Sr Staffing Analyst position acts as a resource to staffing analysts and management on scheduling/staffing utilization, education and interpretation of generated staffing/scheduling reports. Responsibilities
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Serves as a resource and trainer for less experienced and new staff; orients, guides and mentors team members to help build confidence and competency in skills, knowledge and abilities. Assists staff in training for the scheduling systems for all new employees and educates/troubleshoots problems with the online staffing system.
- Motivates team members to drive operational efficiency and quality. Proactively communicates staffing issues to leadership and compiles data for a daily shift report, indicating current progress of staffing needs.
- Role models' healthy work relationships such as mitigation of conflict, leading problem-solving and resolution efforts. Drives initiatives to improve department scores for employee engagement.
- Establishes and maintains schedule for other staffing analysts to ensure appropriate coverage to meet departmental needs. Uses high-level critical thinking skills to determine staffing resource allocation that will meet client department and system needs.
