We are looking for a Reinsurance Accountant, who will be based in either Chicago or O’Fallon office.  This will be a hybrid role.

The Impact You Will Have   

As a Reinsurance Accountant, you will be responsible for the accounting, settlement, and credit control activities associated with reinsurance activities, including Facultative Reinsurance, Quota Share program, International Insurance programs and Fronting deals.  The role will be responsible for maintaining excellent relationship with internal and external parties, develop and implement effective controls to ensure inflow and outflow of reinsurance settlement timely and of high quality.    

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:   

• Work to collect assumed premium receivables and ceded loss recoverables from our Reinsurance partners and affiliate companies  

• Review assumed & ceded reinsurance premium and claim entries against agreement terms and supportive documents to ensure compliance and accuracy.  

• Work closely with clients to support premium and claim entries reflecting in our accounting system.  Investigate any variances and effectively communicate with respective parties for resolution.  

• Work collaboratively with other Functional areas (Operations, Accounting, Claims) and global Finance teams to enhance existing reinsurance processes. 

• Monitor credit control activities which drives collateral requirements for Schedule F. 

• Support internal and external auditing requests to ensure effective controls are maintained and followed.

• Monitor accounts for timely and correct account maintenance including cash application, claims payables, reinsurance premium payables, etc.  

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role  

• 1-3 years experience in basic knowledge of accounting and finance  

• 1-3 years experience in basic knowledge of reinsurance  

• Data analysis - ability to handle large set of data to understand reinsurance financials
