Energy Settlements Analyst II / Senior | Regulatory Compliance & Market Transactions

 

Are you passionate about energy markets, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making? As an Energy Settlements Analyst II or Senior, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of market transactions while supporting regulatory compliance and financial reporting. Your expertise will help drive operational excellence and transparency in energy market activities.

 

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and audit energy transactional activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and enterprise risk standards.
  • Market Transaction Oversight: Manage and ensure accurate accounting, invoicing, and reporting of organized market transactions, including the CAISO Energy Imbalance Market.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly reports on business unit activities to support enterprise decision-making and operational transparency.
  • Regulatory Filings: Lead the preparation of key filings, including FERC Form 1 and FERC EQR, ensuring compliance and precision.
  • Contract & Financial Processes: Collaborate on energy contracts and implement financial reports, reconciliation processes, and auditing techniques to enhance accuracy and reliability.

  • Risk Management Expertise: Knowledge of risk management procedures and energy trading activities, with a solid understanding of energy products.
  • Energy Billing & Auditing Skills: Experience in account reconciliation, energy billing, or energy accounting, including the application of auditing techniques.
  • Analytical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills with experience developing financial reports and spreadsheets, and working with energy contracts.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with FERC requirements, energy market structures, and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to managing complex data, ensuring compliance, and delivering high-quality outputs.

Minimum Requirements

Energy Settlements Analyst II  | Regulatory Compliance & Market Transactions

  • BS degree in Business, Accounting or Finance AND two (2) years' related experience in financial analysis/reporting or data analytics
  • OR advanced degree in applied data analytics, data science or statistics and prior practical related work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.

 

Energy Settlements Analyst Senior | Regulatory Compliance & Market Transactions

  • BS degree in Business, Accounting or Finance AND three (3) years experience in accounting reconciliation, energy billing, or financial reporting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some positions may require experience working with the administration of energy contracts and the development, implementation and maintenance of financial reports and spreadsheets.
  • A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Some positions may require a general understanding of commodity trading,
  • Risk Management, and options valuation as it relates to energy markets, resource generation and transmission system concepts.

 

Preferred skills, knowledge or qualifications

  • Knowledge of the applied use of energy accounting processes and related auditing techniques.
  • Experience in account reconciliation, energy billing, financial reporting or the applied use of energy accounting processes and related auditing techniques
  • Knowledge of risk management procedures
  • General knowledge of trading activities and energy products
