Technical Accounting Director

Grant Thornton is seeking a Technical Accounting Director to join the team. Approved office locations can be found below. 

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Technical Accounting Director to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage and mentor a team. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting frameworks, managing the implementation of new accounting standards, and overseeing the technical content of all financial statements.

Your day-to-day may include:

• Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
• Manage the implementation of new accounting standards and updates.
• Provide expert advice on the accounting implications of complex transactions and changes to financial reporting requirements.
• Lead the preparation of technical accounting memos and documentation.
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Mentor and develop junior accounting staff.
• Stay current with industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.
• Ability to analyze and research policy changes.
• Other duties as assigned.

You have the following technical skills and qualifications:  

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in technical accounting or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
• Familiarity with treasury financial accounting principles and management reporting
• Knowledge of accounting software and technology
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Chicago, IL, Downers Grove, IL, Denver, CO and Baltimore, MD offices only is between $172,000 and $258,000 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Washington, DC, Bellevue, WA, Los Angeles, CA, Newport Beach, CA San Diego, CA, and New York, NY offices only is between $185,800 and $278,600 per year. 

The base salary range for this position in the firm’s San Francisco, CA and San Jose, CA offices only is between $197,800 and $296,700 per year.
