Controls Engineering Internship

Make a difference in the automotive industry by applying for ADAC Automotive’s internship program today.  *You must be a current student in a relative major as this position and must be returning to school in the fall to be eligible for this internship.

ADAC’s paid summer internship program takes place each year in May and runs through August. For 13 weeks, you will apply the concepts you have learned in the classroom to actual business situations and scenarios. Take advantage of your summer break to build your resume, learn and grow in a real-world environment.

The program features collaboration among your fellow interns and ADAC professionals. In addition to team-based community outreach and philanthropic initiatives, the internship program concludes with a final joint capstone project and presentation. The project requires you to apply your research, problem solving and innovation skills to understand and identify a solution to a specific and relevant company business opportunity or challenge.

To complete the capstone, your program cohort will formally present your recommendations to ADAC’s executive team. 

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Shadow the Controls Engineering Team
2. Assist in creation of training documents
3. Contribute to continuous improvement solutions
4. Experience and learn robotics (Fanuc, Denso, Epson)
5. Learn basic PLC/HMI programming under direct supervision (AB Rockwell, GE/Emerson)
6. Wire basic electronic components including sensors, vision, barcode scanners, etc.
7. Bench test vision systems (Keyence, Cognex)
8. Analyze plant processes and review for scrap reduction and better machine efficiency

 Education & Experience:

1. High school diploma pursuing and pursuing an Engineering or Trade School related degree
2. Majoring in one of the following (or equivalent):
   1. Engineering (Electrical, Controls, or Automation) with a strong mechanical background
   2. Associate’s degree in Electronics/Industrial Electronics and a completed apprenticeship program in a related field

 Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1. Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
2. A team-based, creative, and analytical approach to problem solving
3. Experience with database applications, such at SQL Database a plus
4. Pneumatics or Hydraulics experience a plus
