IT Concepts is looking for an experienced Sr. LAN/WAN Engineer to support our engagement with The Social Security Administration.
What will you be doing?
The Senior LAN/WAN Engineer will be responsible for Data Virtualization Infrastructure Configuration and Support to include but not limited to the build, configuration, and support of hardware and software related to the virtualization solutions at SSA that support virtual desktops and servers. Implement new infrastructure, maintain current platforms, and provide support for problem records opened by end-users.
- Configure, implement, and support Microsoft Windows server 2016 software and higher.
- Configure, implement, and support VMware ESX 7.0 and higher. This includes configuring and managing data stores/LUNs, deploying and altering virtual machines, managing virtual center activities, and troubleshooting support issue
- Configure, implement, and support hardware relating to virtualization. This includes Dell rack mounted servers and Dell Blade servers (MX7000 series).
- Plan, test and implement firmware, BIOS and security updates in a VMware environment, on Dell (or equivalent) hardware.
- Formulate conclusions about the state of the virtualization environment using third party virtualization reporting tools such as DOME, vROPS, and VirtualCenter.
- Possess knowledge of networking concepts from the physical layer through the operating system layer
- Possess knowledge of technologies and architectures that aid in the failover and disaster recovery of workloads and/or virtual servers/desktops.
- Possess knowledge of methodologies and architecture that support the backing up and restoration of data, servers, and desktops in a virtual environment.
- Participate in problem management reporting, resolution, and documentation in CAPRS.
- Job Shifts: Shift Times: 12AM - 8 AM Thursday - Monday or Friday - Tuesday
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems/ Engineering or related field. Advanced degree/ relevant professional certification preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience.
- Experience with Data Virtualization Infrastructure Configuration and Support
- Experience with VMware SRM, vReplicator, vROPS, VCHA, vRO, vRA and IDM architecture
