Department Overview
4A is a specialty acute care surgical unit specializing in solid organ transplantation (kidney, liver, and pancreas), urology, and reconstructive plastic surgery. The primary diagnoses and patient populations cared for on 4A include End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), End-Stage Liver Disease (ESLD), bladder cancer, renal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, patients undergoing gender-affirming surgery, reconstructive plastic surgery, and breast cancer. In addition, 4A serves as an overflow unit for medical and surgical patients. Our goal is to provide patient-centered care with a compassionate, holistic approach and a commitment to clinical excellence grounded in evidence-based practice. We support patients and their families throughout hospitalization, facilitate a smooth transition home, and promote successful recovery after discharge.
Function/Duties of Position
- Assist with the admitting and discharge
- Obtain accurate vital signs and weight
- Complete all unit specific CNA documentation in the patient’s medical record related to: admissions, daily care, vital signs, weight, intake and output, discharge, etc.
- Assist the patient with any and all basic hygiene, lifting, transport, dietary support, and other personal needs and medical necessities
- Support patient and family centered care
- Report potential compliance problems as outlined in the Code of Conduct
- Model ethical and appropriate behavior, professional standards, compliance, and personal integrity
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Oregon CNA1 Certification at time of hire
- BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation
