Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Full-Time, Day Shift (12-hour shifts)
Sign-On Bonus: $20,000
Responsibilities
The Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to their assigned patients. The Telemetry Nurse communicates with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. The Registered Nurse (RN) is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment.
Key Responsibilities for the Telemetry RN:
- Consistently uses two patient identifiers when drawing lab, administering medications and performing procedures. Consistently follows medication reconciliation policy.
- Does not use unacceptable abbreviations in documentation (using read back on all telephone orders.) Monitors authentication and validation of telephone orders within 24 hours by the physician.
- Consistently ensures that all clinical alarms, i.e. Cardiac monitors are set with the appropriate parameters for the patient and are audible at all times.
- Ensures Crash Cart, defibrillation function have been checked per protocol. After each code, appropriate items are immediately replaced and indicated by signature on crash cart checklist.
- Is in compliance with information contained in the Infection Manual ( i.e. OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards, CDC Guidelines ), and demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment ( i.e. gloves, gowns, masks, goggles ) and handwashing techniques.
- Able to give thorough and detailed change of shift report to ensure consistency in the plan of care.
- Assists physicians with special tests and procedures in the unit. Uses time out on all patients for any bedside procedures .
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1. Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.2. BCLS upon hire and maintain current.3. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.4. ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintained current. #LI-KA1Apply for this role
