Your purpose:
The Payroll & AP Specialist role will process the bi-weekly payroll, process all invoices received for payment, undertake the payment of all creditors, and perform all duties in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
This role will report directly to the Sr. Director of Accounting & Finance.
Requirements
To nail your job you will:
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salary changes, benefit updates, garnishments, taxes, and other earnings/deductions in partnership with Insperity (PEO) and Naked Wines People Team
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and other earnings/deductions
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll entries and transactions; including the posting of payroll journal entries into the financials
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and best practices
- Assist with audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
- Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures
- Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
- Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
- Understand expense accounts and cost centers
- Understand compliance issues around accounts payable processes (1099s, W-9, uncleared checks, etc.)
- Other tasks, duties, or special projects as assigned.

Requirements
- College degree in a related field, plus 1 or more years of related experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office and G-Suite
- Ability to keep sensitive employee information confidential
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles
- Superior organization and recordkeeping skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Able to work legally in the United States. (Work authorization sponsorship is not provided for this role by Naked Wines)
- Experience in payroll and accounts payable
