How You’ll Make an Impact 

  The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will assist the engineering and production teams in developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, with a focus on CNC machining. This internship provides hands-on experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment, offering exposure to real-world engineering challenges and professional growth opportunities. Interns will work closely with senior engineers and production staff to enhance process efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality standards.

What you’ll be doing as a Manufacturing Engineer Intern:

• Working a Full-time, onsite, Summer Internship program at our Chatsworth, California location.
• Process Development: Assist in developing and refining manufacturing process plans, including creating detailed work instructions, process flows, and task schedules.
• Technical Documentation: Support the preparation of technical drawings, models, and documentation to guide production and ensure alignment with customer specifications.
• Fixture Design: Participate in the design and development of basic fixtures for production and assembly.
• Quality Support: Collaborate with the Quality/Inspection department to assist in developing and modifying Operational Inspection Reports (OIRs) and supporting quality control efforts.
• ERP System Utilization: Utilize Global Shop to assist in part methods and data tracking, including cost estimates and production times.
• 3D Printing & Prototyping: Gain experience in 3D printing technology for prototype development and tooling.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions, contributing to team problem-solving initiatives.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all company safety guidelines and contribute to a safe working environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience:

• Currently pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of CNC machining, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience:

• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and Microsoft Office suite.
• Prior internship or academic project experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, particularly in aerospace manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and 3D printing technology.
• Demonstrated ability to contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
• Understanding and adherence to safety protocols in a manufacturing setting.
