Android Senior Mobile Engineer

Geomagical Labs is building 3D experiences for millions of users around the world, in partnership with IKEA. Our pioneering apps allow customers to scan photorealistic models of their spaces, then reimagine their spaces through life-like mixed-reality web & mobile apps, from anywhere --- improving home commerce along the way.

We have an opening for a Senior Android Engineer to architect & build mobile applications, user interactions, and features for large consumer audiences.

An ideal candidate will be an ambitious engineer, with a track record of success building compelling Android architectures, an appreciation for design aesthetics, and a passion for innovative technology. Possessing a fertile imagination and a good sense of humor is also appealing.

About the role

We have an opening for a Senior Android Architect to join the Mobile team and drive a best-in-class mixed reality room decoration experience for millions of users. The Mobile team is responsible for all aspects of the mobile-based 3D decoration experience - including 3D asset quality, rendering quality & performance, AR capture experience - leveraging ARCore, and e-commerce outcomes like customer checkout. We work closely with design, AI, graphics and platform teams to create highly visual experiences from the ground up.

In this role, you will

• Have an opportunity to work on a dynamic team of successful serial entrepreneurs, software developers, AI researchers, and graphics engineers
• Deliver first-to-market, photorealistic, mixed-reality design products to millions of people
• Work with the latest tools and technologies - like ARCore and Jetpack Compose
• Design and build Android architectures to better support dataflows, elegant UI experiences, and a fully testable environment.
• Work closely with Android and iOS developers to create the best architectures and support developers across the team in their respective features leveraging your work.
• Partner with design and engineering teams to plan, test, and deploy elegant solution for complex problems
• Work closely with IKEA partners to handle releases and integrations within the IKEA app.

Requirements

• Excellent software engineer with strong Computer Science foundations
• 5+ years of experience developing Android applications
• 1+ years of experience developing using Kotlin
• Experience using Android Native UI
• Experience developing & shipping Android applications used by large audiences
• Passion to create magical products that users love
• Experience with the complete Android development lifecycle & build management
• Solid understanding of best practices for Android concurrency & threading
• Solid understanding of client-server network programming and APIs
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
• Great teammate that people want to work with.
• Must be located within +/- 3 hours of USA Eastern Time Zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jetpack Compose

• Experience with automated testing for Android

• Experience with Camera and ARCore applications

• Experience with AR/VR or other mixed reality projects

• Experience developing Android Libraries

• The USA base salary for this full-time position ranges from $220,000 to $290,000 determined by location, role, skill, and experience level
