Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida and Tennessee. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. What will you do as a Senior Financial Analyst?
As the Senior Financial Analyst at Thompson, you will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial data to support the organization's mission. This includes:
- Financial Planning and Analysis: You will develop and maintain financial models, scenarios, forecasts, and budgets to ensure the organization’s financial health and sustainability.
- Reporting: You will prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, providing insights into financial performance and trends.
- Strategic Support: You will collaborate with various departments to provide financial guidance and support for strategic initiatives and projects.
- Compliance: You will ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, conducting audits and reviews as necessary.
- Cost Management: You will identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, helping to optimize resource allocation.
Your work will have a significant impact by:
- Enhancing Financial Stability: Your analysis and recommendations will help the organization maintain financial stability and make informed decisions.
- Supporting Mission-Driven Projects: By providing accurate financial insights, you will enable the organization to allocate resources effectively towards its mission-driven projects.

- Ensuring Accountability: Through rigorous financial reporting and compliance, you will ensure transparency and accountability, fostering trust among stakeholders and donors.
A typical day for a Senior Financial Analyst usually blends deep analytical work with cross-functional collaboration and strategic thinking. Typical activities could include preparing forecasts, dashboards, and financial analyses to inform strategic decisions and help leadership plan for sustainability and growth; developing clear, funder-ready financial reports and materials for Board and Finance Committee meetings; partnering with program teams to support budgeting for grants, track outcomes, and translate financials into mission impact; monitoring & reporting on program and grant spending, ensuring compliance with funder restrictions and budget alignment; and supporting organization-wide financial literacy by simplifying complex data for non-finance stakeholders.
There are no strict schedule requirements. However, we encourage staff to come into headquarters periodically for team engagement and meetings.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have a valid Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
