About the role

 

OVERVIEW: The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing consolidated journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis in an accurate, consistent, and timely (ACT) manner. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the record keeping around fixed assets & CIP. Also, the Senior Accountant must also be able to effectively communicate with both managers and staff while performing ad-hoc accounting, analysis and reporting.

 

KEY TASKS:

  • Prepare consolidated journal entries and reconciliations on a consistent, accurate and timely basis. 
  • Maintain proper support for all journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting as needed, using excel, Qlik, and TM1.
  • Perform analysis using excel, Qlik, and TM1 as needed. Communicate the results of the analysis in a clear and organized manner to ascertain what occurred and why.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining dashboards. 
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting. 
  • Work closely with VP of Accounting and Controllers to identify process and analysis improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain fixed asset clearing and CIP schedules ensuring compliance with capitalization policies. 
  • Create, dispose, & transfer fixed assets in Sage FAS and maintain proper support. 
  • Assist the Assistant Controller with reviewing and reconciling financial statements as assigned. 
  • Create and manage excel templates used by the broader Accounting team. 
  • Coordinate fixed asset confirmation process. 
  • Continue to advance knowledge of Microsoft suite and other internal software. 
  • Perform Excel training. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Accurate, consistent and timely journal entries and reconciliations. 
  • Accurate, consistent and timely maintenance of fixed assets records and support. 
  • Ability to extract data from financial system and manipulate in offline environments, such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Timely and effective problem resolution. 
  • Excellent financial analytic skills combined with an attention to detail. 
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects to completion. 
  • Internal and external customer service. 
  • Effective communication with other MarineMax departments.
