Wage: $21.31 an hour non-exempt

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Environmental Manager, perform all necessary duties to manage the water program for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Develop, manage, update, and implement the grants that fund the water program simultaneously.  Supervise water program staff and maintain internship programs.  This is a grant funded position.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Develop, update, and implement grant projects simultaneously. These grant projects are subject to change and are not limited to the following grants programs: Clean Water Act, Sections 106, 319, and 104(b)(3); Bureau of Indian Affairs, Water Resources; Bureau of Indian Affairs, Great Lakes Restoration Initiative; Indian Environmental General Assistance Program.
• Supervise water program staff including but not limited to the Restoration Specialist, Water Resource Technician, Water Quality Assistants, and Interns. Approve weekly schedules, conduct annual performance reviews, and provide direction in developing work plans.• Administer water program by managing and reviewing grant contracts, grant budgets and reporting per the requirements of granting agencies.
• Develop, update, and implement the Clean Water Act, Section 106, Quality Assurance Project Plan and Monitoring Strategy as required by the US EPA. Implement the Tribal Water Monitoring Strategy by collecting and compiling data outlined in the Quality Assurance Project Plan.
• Manage, upload, and evaluate water quality data.
• Develop Comprehensive Annual Tribal Water Quality Assessment Reports as required by the US EPA.
• Develop water quality standards as part of the Clean Water Act Section 106 Program.
• Evaluate and update the Tribal Non-Point Source Assessment Report and Tribal Watershed Management Plan as required by Clean Water Act, Section 319 Program through US EPA.
• Assist in development of strategies, goals, and objectives related to water resources with external government agencies and tribal departments.
• Review and recommend actions on a wide range of complex environmental issues for Tribal Administration and Tribal Operations.
• Conduct research on environmental matters and legislation maintaining the best interests of the tribe.
• Review and provide comments regarding state and federal permits and consultations from a variety of government agencies.
• Provide educational resources to the community related to water quality.
