About the role

Job Description Summary

The Bharioke Lab at the Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a fully remote, part-time Administrative Assistant to join our lab in the Department of Neuroscience. The assistant will assist lab members in ordering supplies for the lab, interact with the departmental office on such purchases, and also prepare and submit administrative reimbursements for lab members.

The lab focuses on understanding the rules underlying the organization and function of cortical circuits throughout the lifespan of the mouse. We employ a variety of techniques to accomplish these goals, in vivo, combining experimental approaches (deep tissue calcium imaging, optogenetics, and chemogenetics) with creative computational analyses. The assistant will interact with lab members mostly by email and messaging services.

The ideal individual for this position will have the capacity to work independently while being very organized and able to plan the tasks that they have to perform. Ideally, they will also be familiar with dealing with suppliers. This REMOTE position is part-time (1 – 4 hours per week) and largely during normal business hours; however, occasional weekend or work on holidays may also be present. The person will be expected to perform their duties over several short bouts each week, rather than continuously in a single interval. Further, the distribution of tasks is not expected to be even from week to week.
