Aquiva Labs  are looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer with deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS cloud services to join our agile, DevOps-oriented team. You will play a key role in designing and building secure, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that serve real-time mobile APIs and large datasets.

It will be short-term contract for 6 weeks.
We hire only in Serbia, Montenegro, Poland, and Spain. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, secure, and OpenAPI 3.0-compliant RESTful APIs using TypeScript and Node.js
• Work with large datasets (1B+ rows) and optimize PostgreSQL/Aurora RDS for performance and reliability
• Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as ECS Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch
• Define infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation
• Integrate OAuth 2.0 flows, particularly Salesforce authentication, into backend systems
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, ensuring smooth deployments and fast iterations
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability
• Containerize applications using Docker and deploy to AWS cloud environments
• Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including API specs, operational runbooks, and infrastructure diagrams
• Monitor, measure, and optimize system performance, availability, and cost efficiency
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js for backend API development
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and handling large datasets (1B+ rows)
• Hands-on experience with AWS services, especially:
  • RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL
  • ECS Fargate and/or Lambda
  • API Gateway
  • CloudWatch for monitoring and logging
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation)
• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, particularly integrating with Salesforce authentication
• Ability to design and build OpenAPI 3.0-compliant REST APIs
• Experience implementing secure, scalable, and multi-tenant cloud applications
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
• Experience writing unit and integration tests for backend systems
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized deployments
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation (API specs, infrastructure setup, operational runbooks)
• Familiarity with real-time mobile API performance requirements
• Strong understanding of production-grade architecture and deployment practices
• Experience working in agile development and DevOps-oriented teams
• Ability to estimate and optimize AWS infrastructure costs, including services like RDS/Aurora, ECS Fargate, API Gateway, Lambda, CloudWatch, and data transfer/storage costs
