Position Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Associate Technical Specialist is an entry level technical position and the starting point for acquiring skills and training required for the Technical Specialist team. This role will be responsible for supporting the clinical laboratories in monitoring the day-to-day workflow and proactively resolving laboratory issues, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and assisting with implementing solutions with cross-functional support. These responsibilities are expected to be performed under the oversight of Technical Specialists and/or Technical Specialist leadership.
Shift: Tuesday - Friday, 11:00am - 9:30pm
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Generate controlled documents and procedures based off existing examples of recent work performed following the document control process.
- Participate in small process and continuous improvement projects to become familiar with equipment, change control, and effective inter-departmental communication.
- Participate in projects, assist in note taking, plan meeting agendas, and follow up on action items.
- Assist in programming projects using tools, such as Excel VBA, Python, and powerapps, and maintain software compliance with the Exact Sciences IT policy.
- Understand the functionality of existing Technical Specialist-owned applications and tools.
- Communicate with multiple departments, including but not limited to lab support teams and Clinical Laboratory Leadership on a routine basis.
- Actively participate in meetings.
- Manage time effectively and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Seek additional tasks when routine planned work is complete.
- Consistently execute assignments on time as dictated by project schedule and meet milestone dates for assigned projects.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to cooperate with coworkers within an organized team environment or work under supervision.
- Ability to attend trainings and apply learning in routine day-to-day activities.

- Possess knowledge of lab practices and procedures and apply this knowledge and skillset to complete assignments.
- Demonstrate technical aptitude, collaboration with others, and independent thought.
- Demonstrate ability to perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for lab information systems.
- Ability to escalate and solve routine problems by applying judgement, discretion, and advanced knowledge of lab processes and consulting with lab leadership and technical specialists.
- Eager to learn from and assist more experienced team members with troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel.

- Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for a minimal amount of a typical working day.
- Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
- Ability to use various types of laboratory equipment; including microscopes, microtomes, blades, strainers, and pipettes for extended periods of time.
