The Opportunity

This position works out of Plymouth, MN for our Electrophysiology Medical Device Business.  In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Supply Planning Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our dynamic team at Abbott.  Working without appreciable direction, this individual must develop, maintain and communicate supply plans and inventory health across product value stream.  To do this, the Supply Planner will closely coordinate with production planning or scheduling, procurement, and other operations and supply chain functions to maintain an end-to-end product health view. This position will be highly visible to commercial and marketing stakeholders and our Senior Leadership teams within Electrophysiology (EP) Division so individual must possess strong communication and influencing skills.  The role’s primary objective is to meet customer needs while balance inventory and costs.  This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of our supply chain and ensuring the timely delivery of life-saving medical devices.

What You’ll Work On

• Partners with manufacturing management to assess efficiency of manufacturing lines and analyze capacity.

• Develop and maintain supply plans based on demand forecasts, production capacity, and inventory targets.

• Support New Product Introduction – Recommend timing of various Geography/country launches based on supply availability and prioritization review with cross functional partners like commercial, marketing, and regulatory; execute launch plans with effective, proactive communications to all appropriate stakeholders.

• Influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority to align on priorities, resolve conflicts, and drive supply chain initiatives forward.

• Generate clear communications and presentations based on highly complex data analysis and other inputs.

• Proactively anticipate leadership needs by identifying potential questions, concerns, or data requests and preparing insights in advance.

• Maintain active and often leadership position in all assigned project or launch meetings with key stakeholders to ensure recommended plan will meet all business demands. 

• Review forecast data, backorder reports and commodity/purchasing updates, including early warning signs, to prioritize and expedite manufacturing jobs to prevent or clear backorders.

• Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

• Work proactively across bounds of dedicated ownership to proactively improve plan or resolve issues.

• Coordinate with procurement team to ensure timely delivery of components and finished goods.
