Collins Aerospace (Collins) is a global leader in the design and manufacture of a variety of aerospace products.  Propeller & Cockpit Systems (PCS), a business unit of the Advanced Structures SBU within Collins Aerospace, is seeking a highly motivated Director of Contracts & Business Management to join our team working in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

The nature of our global business is complex, and we rely on our Contracts & Business Management (CBM) team to help us get the job done.  As a valued partner across our business, the CBM organization plays a key role in our company’s success.  CBM team members bring their passion and expertise to everything they do – from safeguarding our employees’ creative ideas to helping us maintain the highest standards of ethical behavior.  Want opportunities to grow your career at a fast-paced, global enterprise?  If you want to bring your contracts expertise and leadership ability to the aerospace industry, our team could be a great fit for you.

What You will do:

This Director position is the functional leader of the Contracts & Business Management organization within PCS and reports directly into the Sr. Director, Contracts & Business Management, for the Advanced Structures (AdS) SBU, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the PCS VP/GM.  The Director will be singularly responsible for creating the strategic vision of the PCS CBM function while also driving the performance of the entire PCS CBM organization.  Harmonization and optimization of processes between the two major teams within PCS CBM, as well as integration & team building, will be major focus areas for the Director.  In order to support the attainment of PCS goals and objectives, this key leader must possess substantial technical expertise regarding CBM responsibilities, procedures, and processes.  Critically important will be this leader’s provision of ethical and compliance-focused support in the execution of duties and responsibilities.  The CBM organization is a pivotal teammate and, as such, partners with colleagues across functions while working in every program team and in direct support of the execution of all contract administration duties and obligations.  The Director will have a strong desire to attain the highest customer satisfaction levels. This leader will also:

  • Provide mentoring and training to a team of CBM professionals and ensure policy and process adherence;
  • Partner with leadership in PCS, AdS, and Collins to drive creative solutions to complex contracting problems, enabling rapid top- and bottom-line growth;
  • Drive exceptional business performance through leading effective customer relationship management, contracts drafting, negotiation, and administration with customers worldwide;
  • Support the Collins/AdS CBM organizations by initiating, managing, and executing process improvements and supporting SBU-level and enterprise initiatives;
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to CBM professionals across the organization as needed; and
  • Oversee, manage, and lead the following principal CBM responsibilities (among many others): proposal support; business risk mitigation; contract interpretation and drafting; contract flow down to internal organizations; Accounts Receivable collection support; customer negotiations; and continuous improvement of all processes.

PCS has two major sites: Figeac, France, and Windsor Locks, CT, USA.  Travel to those sites to support the businesses and CBM teams will be regularly required, in addition to ad hoc travel to support internal and customer needs.  Travel ~10-20%.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years of experience.
  • 10 years of experience in a Contracts/CBM or related role.
  • Managerial or other leadership experience.
