Job Highlights:- Contract type: Independent Contractor
- Schedule: 40 hours / week; Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm Eastern Time with 1 hour unpaid break

The Role:
As a critical member of our dynamic team, the accountant will manage and oversee all financial transactions and systems. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a multifaceted role and is eager to impact a growing firm's financial and operational strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, and developing internal control policies and procedures.
- Manage all Canadian accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, reviewing payroll, and Revenue Recognition.
- Lead the implementation of accounting software systems across portfolio companies.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in Accounting.
- Professional accounting certification required (CPA).
- At least 3-7 years of overall combined accounting experience, with a strong background in Canadian accounting and financial management aspects.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including the creation of financial statements.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software packages.
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly with Excel, including data extraction and
- financial modeling.
- Experience with payroll management.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and a passion for technology and process improvement.
- Comfortable working in a start-up environment and managing multiple tasks.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Canadian tax and accounting experience is preferred.
