Overview
Academic Alliance in Dermatology is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to support our busy clinical teams across the Tampa Bay Area. This travel-based role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and surgical procedures while working with multiple providers and clinic locations. It’s an excellent opportunity for Pre-PA/Pre-Med students or individuals looking to gain hands-on clinical experience while maintaining a part-time, adaptable schedule.
- Shift hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Travel is required as-needed to all 22 of our clinic locations in the Tampa Bay Area: (https://www.academicallderm.com/locations/)
- Must be available to work every Friday + at least 1 additional day during the week.
- Pay range: $23-24.00/hour

Responsibilities
Job Summary: As a PRN Medical Assistant you will play a vital role within our clinical team, supporting various aspects of patient care and clinic operations. Your responsibilities will include a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to deliver high-quality patient care and ensure efficient workflow. You will assist with patient examinations, manage medical records, and ensure that our clinic maintains the highest standards of patient safety and satisfaction. As a PRN Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for traveling to various AAD office locations to support our clinic operations. Your notification for shifts could be same day up to a month in advance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Escort patient to exam room and confirm first & last name & DOB.
- Obtain and record vital signs.
- Organize patient flow.
- Setup procedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to instructions.
- Prepare Path/lab specimens, route to correct lab directed by patient insurance plan.
- Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed.
- Check to-dos/Nurse line.
- Calibrate, clean, sterilize and inventory all equipment & instruments according to schedule. Keep appropriate records of maintenance.
- Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
- Maintain infection control and make sure supply rooms and cabinets are stocked.
- Ordering, sorting, restocking and inventory of all supplies.
- Document all medical instructions given to patients, thoroughly review wound care with patients when applicable.
- Anesthesia/Inject for procedures.
- Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed in a timely manner.
- Must maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Able to triage patient problems.
- Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards.
- Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments.
- Experience administering injections.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Knowledge of office financial policies.
