The travel requirements for this role are between 30-40% that includes conferences, home office visits, and meeting with COIs to gather leads for wholesalers, align on business strategy, and ensure we are focused on the right solutions for our partners.

This is a fully remote position that reports to Sales Director, Sarah Bauder, with our Annuity Specialized Distribution team.

This is an H.SD120 band role.

Job Description Summary

As a Senior Consultant, you'll be a subject matter expert for identifying and growing Annuity Distribution opportunity. We'll count on you to plan and implement sales development programs that directly support sales, profit, and/or market share growth efforts across multiple channels.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identifies potential new firms for Annuity and defines the distribution opportunity. Forecasts and develops business cases for pursuit of new sales expansion or coverage improvement opportunities. Presents business cases to distribution management team. Maintains relationships with key decision makers at these firms. Responsible for all communications, issue resolution, and compliance with contractual agreements within assigned target market.

  • Identifies and implements critical expansion opportunities. Builds and maintains business relationships with key groups and individuals in the target market for the purpose of sales expansion. Develops and implements cross-functional and/or cross-business unit strategic sales initiatives and expansion strategies, as well as large sales development programs in support of productivity goals. 

  • Partners to assess, evaluate and establish sales expansion opportunities. Works with Marketing to develop promotional materials. Develops and delivers large scale business development presentations to leadership. Partners with appropriate sales teams across Annuity to determine where opportunities exist.

  • Uses subject matter expertise to lead business development planning and strategy projects. Presents and uses market conduct and return on investment reports to influence strategic decisions.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Associate Vice President, Annuity Distribution.

Typical Skills and Experiences: 


Education: Undergraduate degree in business administration or related field preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6/7, Series 63/66, life and health insurance required. Advanced designation (CFP, CLU, ChFC) preferred. 

Experience: Nine years of sales or business development experience, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Solid understanding of sales and business development practices. Knowledge of insurance and/or financial services products. Strong ability to communicate. Strong ability to understand and analyze business information needs, analyze data requests, and form relationships. Expert presentation and leadership skills. Comfort in the presence of executive leadership. Competencies include customer focus, interpersonal savvy, relationship building, drive for results, optimism, dealing with ambiguity, listening, patience, problem solving, directing others and sales. 

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
