Position Overview:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support the Manufacturing Engineering Team. This position will be based in our New York Mills, Minnesota location and is primarily associated with our Lund and Crestliner brands. This position reports directly to a Manufacturing Engineer. The main responsibility will be to support the operations team of NYM to both sustain current production activities as well as launching new processes and products. Activities will include supporting several departments where manufacturing processes such as fabrication, riveting, welding, paint, upholstery, and final assembly occur. The person in this role will become familiar with manufacturing engineering responsibilities as they relate to process creation and maintenance, tooling design and implementation, and new product introduction.

Essential Functions:
- Design manufacturing tooling using 3D CAD (Solidworks)
- Design and construction of workstation benches, layouts, and assembly aids
- Create, organize, and update manufacturing documentation for boats built by New York Mills Operations; gather as-built information to ensure accuracy
- Complete time studies and assist with process improvements as well as labor balancing activities
- Work with Product Development and Engineering personnel to investigate, problem solve, and implement engineering change notices
- Be a contributor on problem solving, cost reduction, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Respond to requests from other departments as necessary and appropriate
- Carry out cross-functional assignments and projects when needed
- Maintain a working knowledge of the systems utilized to carry out the tasks for this position including OBMS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications

- This internship will be a full-time commitment from May to August 2026
Internship project opportunities:
- Support of MY26 product launch
- Time studies and labor balancing in final assembly departments
- Continuous improvement activities as they relate to material flow and delivery, automation deployment, and tooling improvements
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
- An engineering student with at least 80 credits working towards a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering
- Strong organizational skills, good communication skills, and flexible interpersonal skills are required
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred
- Experience using Solidworks, Draftsight, or similar 3D modeling software
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- The ability to coordinate numerous projects in a professional and ethical manner
- Previous experience in manufacturing setting preferred
- Working knowledge of appropriate engineering principles.
