WHAT YOU'LL DO
Braze serves tens of billions of requests per day. Platform Infrastructure Engineers (PIEs) specialize in managing and evolving the foundational infrastructure required to meet that demand. They support scalable, automated platform services and they design, implement, and maintain core systems such as Kubernetes, cloud environments. Their focus is to ensure a reliable, high-performing backbone of the compute/services platform.
Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Design and Management:
- Build, manage, and optimize foundational systems such as Kubernetes clusters, ecosystems, cloud-based resources (e.g., EC2, S3), and edge routing
- Developing building blocks with well-defined lifecycles, scaling strategies, and maintenance
- Implement robust, scalable architecture to support the seamless operation of platform services

Reliability and Performance:
- Ensure high availability and fault tolerance across all infrastructure components
- Collaborate with platform software engineers and site reliability engineers to define and meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for infrastructure services
- Continuously monitor and tune system performance to meet evolving demands
- Collaborate with engineering teams to iteratively refine infrastructure building blocks based on user feedback and performance metrics, fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement

Incident Response and Prevention:
- Participate in on-call rotations for infrastructure-related incidents, focusing on quick resolution and comprehensive retrospectives
- Implement self-healing, failover strategies, backups, and disaster recovery plans to mitigate risks
- Develop proactive monitoring and alerting mechanisms to detect and address potential issues before they escalate

Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
- Partner with platform software engineers to integrate infrastructure solutions with platform services
- Share expertise with the engineering team, promoting a culture of operational excellence
- Document processes, configurations, and best practices to streamline future development and operations
WHO YOU ARE
Experience:
- 5+ years managing large-scale infrastructure systems in production environments
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure), and configuration management tools. Nice to have: Kafka
Skills:
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible
- Strong knowledge of network architecture, security, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with containerization, service discovery, and load-balancing technologies

- Focused on building robust, scalable systems that support developer productivity
- Eager to collaborate with software engineers to deliver holistic platform solutions

For candidates based in the United States, the pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $154,800 and $248,400/year with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $172,000 and $276,000/year (including bonus or commission). Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
