Position Overview
Lane College is seeking full-time Director of Education Preparation/Assistant Professor of Education provides visionary leadership and collaborative support in advancing the Education Preparation Program’s mission to prepare effective, culturally responsive educators for contemporary classrooms. This dual role plays a critical part in shaping, implementing, and sustaining innovative teacher education programs aligned with evolving state and national standards.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Leadership
- Lead strategic planning efforts within the Education Preparation Program/ Education Department to align programs with current educational practices and student needs
- Direct curriculum development and program evaluation initiatives to enhance effectiveness and relevance
- Oversee and coordinate departmental operations, including faculty collaboration and budget planning
- Cultivate and sustain partnerships with P–12 school districts and community stakeholders
Compliance & Accreditation
- Ensure full compliance with standards and regulations established by the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE)
- Serve as the primary liaison for accreditation processes, reporting, and site visits
- Monitor and document assessment outcomes to support continuous improvement
Instruction & Mentorship
- Teach undergraduate education courses, with a focus on pedagogy, curriculum, or field experience supervision
- Advise and mentor education students and contribute to their academic and professional success
- Actively engage in scholarly activities, service, and faculty development
- Recruit and retain students to the program
Grants & External Engagement
- Identify and pursue grant and funding opportunities to support departmental initiatives
- Representing the institution at regional and national education conferences and professional gatherings
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Doctorate in Education or a closely related field. A master's degree with substantial industry experience is suitable.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in P–12 or higher education settings
- Knowledge of TDOE standards and accreditation processes
- Experience in program design, curriculum development, and educational leadership
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful experience using and incorporating technology in and out of the classroom.
- Demonstrated experience or ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituents in a diverse collegiate community.
