As a Lactation Consultant RN at Banner University Medical Center - Tucson you will be rounding on patients in L&D, Postpartum, and the NICU to assist with breastfeeding and will provide education about breastfeeding, latching, and pumping to both patients and staff. This role includes developing feeding plans and collaborating with pediatricians and speech therapy.   

*IBCLC Certification and previous lactation consultant experience is required for this position* 

 This is a full time VARIED position Monday through Friday supporting both days and nights. You will also have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy 18% night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential.

Banner Ocotillo Medical Center is a new, comprehensive medical center located in Chandler, AZ. The hospital has 124 beds with ample shelled space for future growth. The hospital offers key inpatient and outpatient services, such as emergency care, intensive care, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization, imaging, surgical and women’s services. The hospital utilizes cutting-edge technology to improve safety and quality, including robotic surgeries, UV disinfecting lighting, and smart devices for all caregivers.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards for professional practice and certification. The position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients. This position delivers lactation education and provides individualized direct patient and family education. Works in coordination with staff to select and deliver current patient education materials based on identified needs. Provides community and staff education in the specialty area of lactation. Acts as subject matter expert for patients and staff.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and outlined in policy.

2. Provides care and works collaboratively with patients, family and staff to formulate individualized lactation plans of care, education and intervention.

3. Delivers continuing education programs related to lactation. Suggests updates to educational materials based on needs assessment, advances in theory and technology as well as changes in standards of care related to lactation.
