POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Applied Linguistics in the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will serve as a key administrative resource for the Center for Language Acquisition and the English for Professional Purposes Intercultural Center.
The Administrative Assistant will support a wide range of activities—including event coordination, front-office support, and research administration—while contributing to the centers’ shared mission to advance understanding of language use and language learning.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide front-office support, including greeting visitors and responding to phone calls and emails
Support daily operations such as event registration, room reservations, managing office supplies, and submitting expense reports
Coordinate meetings, workshops, trainings, speaker events, and conference exhibits
Handle logistics for experiential learning opportunities for students; track participation and compile feedback and assessment data
Maintain center websites, social media accounts, and mailing lists
Create and update print and digital publications for marketing purposes
Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and attention to detail skills
Ability to work with a high level of professionalism both independently and as a member of a team
Ability to exercise discretion and judgment while managing confidential materials
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing needs
Experience with core Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
