POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Applied Linguistics in the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will serve as a key administrative resource for the Center for Language Acquisition and the English for Professional Purposes Intercultural Center.

The Administrative Assistant will support a wide range of activities—including event coordination, front-office support, and research administration—while contributing to the centers’ shared mission to advance understanding of language use and language learning.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide front-office support, including greeting visitors and responding to phone calls and emails

  • Support daily operations such as event registration, room reservations, managing office supplies, and submitting expense reports

  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, trainings, speaker events, and conference exhibits

  • Handle logistics for experiential learning opportunities for students; track participation and compile feedback and assessment data

  • Maintain center websites, social media accounts, and mailing lists

  • Create and update print and digital publications for marketing purposes

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and attention to detail skills

  • Ability to work with a high level of professionalism both independently and as a member of a team

  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment while managing confidential materials

  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing needs

  • Experience with core Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
