Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general guidance of the Executive Chef, the Supervisor, Food Services drives the creation and execution of innovative, upscale, and culturally diverse menus across patient care, retail, and catering services. This role leads and inspires a team of Principal Cooks, Senior Cooks, and culinary staff, overseeing scheduling, training, and food preparation to ensure excellence in every dish. The Supervisor also manages food cost control, inventory, and proper storage, while maintaining strict compliance with sanitation, safety, and all policies set by the Joint Commission, the University of California, and UCLA Medical Center. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a culinary professional passionate about delivering exceptional food experiences in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in food service or healthcare support.

  • Current ServSafe certification 

  • DSS or CDM certification required for patient service roles.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly to understand policies and communicate with staff and patients.

  • Comfortable using computers and food management systems to review information and generate reports or communications.

  • Working knowledge of portion control, safe food handling, sanitation, and regulatory standards including HACCP and hospital guidelines.

  • Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and follow assignments through with limited direction.

  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, including supporting peers and participating in performance improvement efforts.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and lift 50+ pounds, and to work in hot or cold environments.

  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and maintaining organized, sanitary work areas.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellent service.
