Senior Fermentation Scientist II - Belvidere, NJ (On-site)

 

The Senior Fermentation Scientist will identify/evaluate/implement technical improvements into existing fermentation production processes.

Responsibilities:

• Designing of fermentation process improvement / process troubleshooting experiments in the Fermentation Pilot Plant and large scale plant.
• Applying statistically based analysis and process control techniques on data to interpret factor relationships and to control process variance.
• Maintaining existing and fostering new contacts (domestically and internationally) relevant to the support / improvement of fermentation processes through exchange of technical knowledge.
• Performing (in conjunction with Scientist/Process Engineer) scale-down / scale-up trials and calculations of relevant fermentation operating parameters (i.e. agitation, air- flow, heat load removal / temperature control).
• Providing training and technical coaching to fermentation engineers, techs and operations staff.
• Have line management role for In-Process-Control Lab /Pilot plant and act as liaison with Fermentation Operations in providing technical support on multiple fermentation processes (i.e. arachidonic acid, natural beta carotene, etc).

You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10+ years of process operations experience; Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum 10+ years' process knowledge with supervisory experience preferred.
• Extensive fermentation knowledge to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Must have excellent math, oral / written communication, interpersonal, trouble shooting, time management, statistical process control and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of process control computers, cGMP regulations and other relevant regulatory requirements.
• Very strong analytical skills (e.g. L6S Green belt / Black belt) and data analytics and visualization (Seeq, Pi Vision, etc).
