What You'll Do:

 

Serta Simmons Bedding, a leader in the mattress manufacturing industry, is seeking a dedicated Tape Edger Closer to join our team in our Grovetown, GA facility.

In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient closure of mattress edges, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.

As a key member of our production team, you will work with advanced machinery to create products that meet Serta Simmons’ commitment to comfort and durability.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in their work, and has a strong eye for detail.

How You'll Do It

 

• Slide the mattress onto the table.
• Use the leg-clutch to control the start and stop functions of the sewing machine.
• Tape and close the mattress edges following established work instructions, using a closing sewing machine. This includes closing Hot Melt Bond units, foam-encased pocketed coil units, and open coil units with various upholstered layers.
• Feed materials into the sewing machine while moving it around the mattress. Re-thread the sewing machine when necessary and ensure that quality standards are met.
• Correct any defective taping on mattresses as needed.
• Lift or slide finished mattresses onto the take-away conveyor.
• Replace the needle and binding tape on the sewing machine as required.
• Keep the work area clean and adhere to proper safety procedures. Sweep the floor as necessary.
• Make adjustments to the sewing machine and perform basic maintenance tasks, including lubrication.
• Assist in other areas of mattress production as needed.
• Maintain good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Interpret and follow company standards, policies, and procedures.

What You'll Bring:

Basic ability to read and write English

Demonstrate ability and willingness to work safely, take initiative, multi-task, and work both independently and as part of a team

Experience in sewing machinery and/or in a manufacturing environment is preferred

Must be 18 years or age

High School graduate or equivalent GED

Prior assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.

A clean and safe work area and exposure to high noise decibels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials and limited chemical

Personal Protective Equipment is required to be worn for any hazards.

Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement.
