Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Environmental Geologist / Hydrogeologist in our Houston TX office to support a variety of oil and gas investigation/remediation projects with oversight from technical experts. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience with complex geology and hydrogeology interpretations and reporting, planning and supervision of complex field tasks, including environmental site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work. The candidate will provide office support for data management and technical evaluation, regulatory compliance, and report preparation for a wide range of multidisciplinary environmental investigation and remediation projects.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers and Technical Experts. Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Data management, evaluation and report writing including drafting environmental investigation work plans and reports.
- Client and regulatory correspondence
- Manage environmental site assessments and investigations
- Manage/Oversee soil borings and well installation on environmental projects
- Use the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) for geologic logging, collection of soil, groundwater or soil vapor samples
- Analytical data evaluation, including stratigraphy analysis, interpreting complex geology
- Technical report writing
- Field-based task management and oversight of environmental investigation and remediation programs.
- Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Soil Science, or closely related field.
- 4+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid Driver’s License, subject to a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Record Screening
- Due to the nature of this role, US citizenship is required
- Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-8 years of environmental consulting experience.
- Experience with TX remediation programs at complex sites
- Proficient with data analysis, modeling, and visualization using Earth Volumetric Studio (EVS), geographic information systems, database systems, and/or numeric computing environments
- Professional Geologist License, or ability to obtain professional license
- Ability to understand and supervise advancement of soil borings and installation of monitoring wells in complex geology
- Experience in the collection and evaluation of environmental data in field and office settings.
- Data evaluation, interpretation, and reporting experience.
- Experience preparing draft work plans and reports for environmental investigations.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and annual updates.
