About the role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr Mgr – Engineering oversees and manages all aspects of facilities management to ensure safety and security while protecting the asset for investors and owners.  This role manages and coordinates all activities of the local engineering and maintenance departments to design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems.
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Direct local product engineering resources.
•    Work with R&D/Marketing in the execution and manufacturing of new products.
•    Provide manufacturing technical & documentation support.
•    Research emerging and competitive tools, equipment and processes.
•    Cost reduce and enhance existing manufacturing of products.
•    Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
•    Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
•    Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
•    Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
•    Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
•    Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.
•    Utilize engineering skills (engineering design and analysis) to improve facility operation, layouts, etc.
•    Recommend and implement methods for improving processes, including worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.  
•    Enforce internal engineering software development/maintenance processes.
•    Serve as high-level release manager on all product releases.
•    Ensure all internal projects are managed to scheduled targets.
•    Manage recruiting, hiring, and training of new engineering staff and professional development of existing staff.
•    Direct and manage multiple concurrent engineering projects, delegating authority and responsibility to subordinates as appropriate.
•    Manage engineering team effectively to project timelines and budgets.
•    Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.  Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
•    Additional duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.
•    Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
•    8+ years progressive engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    5+ years in a leadership role.
•    Periodic travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
•    High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
•    Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
•    Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
•    Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
•    Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•    Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
•    Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
