Pre-Doctoral Research Associate, Global Linkages Lab

Description

The Department of Economics seeks a candidate for one year, full time, pre-doctoral Research associate appointment in economics. The pre-doctoral RA will be mentored by the Economics faculty member, Sebnem Kalemli-Ozcan, as part of the “Global Linkages Lab". The Lab features a data center connecting firm outcomes like employment, investment and profits, and their financing via local lenders and global investors at the same time linking to their supply chain partners. The candidate will work on individual and collaborative projects as a research assistant. The appointment has an expected term of at least one year starting September 1, 2025. Reappointment to a second year is possible, contingent on performance, need, and availability of funding.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position include (1) an undergraduate degree with a strong quantitative course background, (2) the ability to take initiative and work independently, (3) an interest in pursuing a research career in economics, (4) strong technical skills including in scientific computing, and (5) a willingness to collaborate and contribute to the Economics faculty member’s research. Knowledge of statistical programs that are used to deal with large datasets such as SQL, R, Stata, Python, Matlab is preferred, Experience working with large micro datasets is important.
