Operator Coating

Responsibilities:

• Perform surface preparation activities prior to abrasive blasting and coating, which may include masking product, grinding excess metal using hand tools, preparatory undercoating, and application of preservatives and lubricants. 
• Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, scale, and other material from surfaces of metal parts, castings and other metal substrates in accordance to NOV and/or customer requirements.
• Using compressed air, remove any leftover blast media from completed components. 
• Perform the safe application of industrial coatings to a variety of new and older parts or equipment using standard and/or non-standard tools, equipment, and procedures. 
• Ensure coatings are clad according to NOV or customer requirements.
• Clean and maintain blast shop area and associated equipment such as air lines, fluid lines, paint pots, paint guns, hoses, filtration systems, other blasting or coating equipment, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators.
• Familiarize yourself with operational controls such as safe working practices and job hazard analysis as appropriate to specific work tasks.
• Report technical issues encountered to the department Supervisor for resolution throughout the project life cycle. 
• Clean, apply and/or remove thread compound and protectors.
• Provide support and training to new crewmembers as needed.
• Comply with all NOV Company HSE policies and procedures and maintain safety and health standards in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Must be able to read, interpret, and follow instructions concerning coating work orders.
• Select and gather materials from storage areas utilizing forklifts if needed.

•  Any and all other duties as directed by Supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Previous experience with forklift operation preferred but not required
• Must be able to lift up to 55lbs on a daily basis
• Will required occasional work outdoors.
