The Opportunity: Director of Engineering

We know that our patient-centered offering has incredible potential, and with the right team we can go from helping 1000 patients to 1,000,000 patients access new treatments each year. You are joining us at a great time. As Director Engineering, you will play a key role in building our platform to ensure we can help more clients faster. You will be leading a team of Frontend, Backend, DevOps, QA Engineers and Data Scientists, and guide them by setting strategic goals. To succeed in this role you needa keen sense of ownership, endless ambition to ‘get it done’ and a continuous improvement mindset.

The team is located in the Netherlands, therefore we only consider candidates for this position to live on or plan to relocate to commuting distance before starting.

Main Responsibilities:

• Managing and leading a team of engineers and data scientists: This includes recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members, as well as setting goals and providing (technical) guidance and mentorship to the team.
• Working closely together with other disciplines: this includes product management, design, and growth team. You will be reporting directly to the Director of Product & Engineering.
• Overseeing all technical aspects of our products. This includes code quality, efficiency, and scalability, as well as architecture, security and performance.
• Communicating with stakeholders, such as keeping upper management and other stakeholders informed of the engineering team's progress, and communicating any issues or concerns that arise.
• Continuously improving the engineering team, by identifying areas where the team can improve, and implementing processes and tools to help the team work more efficiently and effectively.

Current Tech-Stack:

We are fully cloud-native utilizing mostly AWS services. We adopt a Lean, API first product development approach leveraging cloud technologies and design practices.

Our web front-end applications are developed in Angular. Our platform technologies both microservice and AI, are developed in Python, and deployed as AWS Lambda functions.

We also foster a rapidly growing expertise in knowledge graphs (Neo4j / Memgraph) and database technologies (SQL - AWS RDS, NoSQL – AWS DynamoDB, etc). In addition, we develop human in the loop Machine learning for Healthcare in house such as leveraging LLMs and other NLP techniques.
