Job Description

AECOM has a position available for a Network Solutions Consultant to join our Technology Solutions Group Networks team in one of several mid-west to western United States locations including Los Angeles, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, Dallas, TX or Chicago, IL.  This position will involve all aspects of network installation to include sales engineering, physical installation, equipment configuration, troubleshooting, and support.  This is a remote opportunity that requires some travel.

The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Installing, configuring, and supporting a range of network and wireless equipment with a focus on Passive Optical LAN and WiFi
  • Visit client sites, present ideas and demonstrate system capabilities to clients
  • Work independently to configure network equipment under the general direction of senior staff members
  • Configure and test network equipment
  • Provide in-person and remote support
  • Willingness to learn a variety of local area networking (LAN) technologies, network cabling practices, and communicate in a courteous and professional manner to our clients
  • Perform highly detail-oriented tasks, in an organized manner
  • Analyze and solve technological issues
  • Collaborate with senior team members to develop solutions for clients

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Relevant experience shall include one or more of the following:
    • implementing and configuring switched network solutions
    • configuring network equipment from start to finish based on requirements for VLANs, QoS, PoE, and STP
    • demonstrated experience reviewing requirements and specifications developed by others and providing product and design recommendations
    • experience providing technical support on network installation projects
  • Previous experience in a similar client-facing role
  • Valid US Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical network certification such as POL, CCNA, JNCIA, or similar is a plus
  • Experience with various copper and fiber cabling types
  • Experience with WiFi wireless access points and controllers, firewalls, WAN routing, Active Directory, Linux, or VMWare are a plus
  • Experience configuring distributed antenna systems is a plus

Additional Information

  • This position involves physically lifting IT equipment, installing IT racks and climbing ladders
  • Monthly travel (1 - 2 times/month) to client sites, primarily within the United States
