We currently have a two part-time positions for a Maintenance Technician Interns at our Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing center. The Maintenance Technician Intern assists plant operations in running efficiently with minimal downtime. This position has a work schedule of 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with work days being the days off from school. This position is strictly an intern position for students who are currently actively enrolled in college. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts in conjunction with school schedule is required. Average work week is about 24 hours but could vary depending on maintenance projects.

Responsibilities

KEY TASKS

  • Completes or updates all maintenance related documentation according to sites document control procedure: work orders, reports, requisitions, PM task, maintenance manuals, andwriting procedures, single point lessons, scopes of work and JSA (Job Safety Analysis) as needed or instructed.
  • Condition monitoring- locates sources of problems by observing devices in operation; listening for problems; usingprecision measuring and testing instruments, initiate corrective actions to prevent unscheduled downtime.
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions- selects logical approach to “troubleshooting”, repair problems, and write detailedexplanation on cause of malfunction.
  • Performs Lock Out / Tag Out duties as the authorized person
  • Installation of machinery: leveling, aligning, testing, and debugging.
  • Update daily maintenance logs and entering work orders.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, lifts, and hand and power tools; examining of the parts
  • Ensures operation of electrical and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on hydraulic, pneumatic, gas, acid, water, coolant systems, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyors, and production machines, following diagrams,sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, andengineering specifications.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, andother measuring instruments.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by following parts check out procedure; checking stock to determine inventorylevel; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders (as needed); verifying receipt.
  • Controls downtime by informing Maintenance Supervisor and production Manager of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Provide troubleshooting of Mechanical and Electrical devices and equipment.
  • Provide input for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
  • Test production equipment to perform functional testing.
  • Assist in training across functions.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment adhering to 6S standards and all safety procedures while working.
  • Precision alignment, cutting, welding, brazing, heating, and soldering are necessary job skills

 

Qualifications

  • All candidates must be in good standing with their college grades and attendance and be actively enrolled in college level courses.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • A high school diploma or a G.E. D. Equivalent is required.
  • Asset care continuous improvement mindset.
  • Be able to work collaboratively and effectively with others as part of a team.
  • Be willing to learn, grow, and improve their job skills, strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and active listening skills.
  • Must possess complex problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent English language skills including reading, writing, and speaking.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and ability to work long hours in a standing position.
  • Must be able to work under high pressure, continuous production environment with highstandards
