About the role

About this role:

The Commodities team is seeking a Securities Sales Analyst to join in the Houston, TX office.  This role sits within the Commodities front office and will be working in a dynamic and busy trading floor environment. The Commodity Analyst will be expected to partner closely with senior commodity marketers, commodity traders, investment bankers, relationship managers, and commodities support staff to provide comprehensive risk management services to Wells Fargo’s clients.  The Analyst position will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and presenting materials for marketing derivative products.

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in Commodity Sales and Trading daily activities and identify opportunities for researching and correcting trade issues within Wells Fargo Securities - Program

  • Review and maintain basic credit and prospectus files, manage phone traffic, complete trade tickets, update daily offering sheets, and exercise independent judgment to guide research and corrections

  • Present recommendations for resolving customer requests and exercise independent judgment while developing expertise in the operations and trading function

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, traders, and manager, including internal and external customers

  • Generate daily market and pricing data and analytics to the client base

  • Develop pitch materials, deal documents, and internal/external marketing material

  • Provide daily front office support functions, including, but not limited to exposure calculations, order blotter monitoring, trade processing, and responding to daily and varied client requests

  • Provide analytical support for senior marketers, traders, and clients

  • Gain a basic knowledge of risk management techniques and issues for both producers and consumers

  • Provide client coverage support including direct trade execution when senior marketers are traveling

Required Qualification:

  • 6+ months of Securities Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • A degree in business, economics, finance, mathematics, or computer science with a strong interest in learning about financial markets and commodities

  • 6+months of experience in financial energy derivative markets, (swaps and options)

  • Knowledge and understanding of oil, gas, and metals industry

  • Knowledge and understanding of commodity products and applications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Desire and ability to build strong relationships with internal and external partners

Job Expectations:

  • Registration for FINRA Security Industry Essentials (SIE), NFA Swap Proficiency within 30 days of hire date

  • Work VISA sponsorship not available for this role

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
