Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the selection of new medical equipment systems by analyzing organizational and regulatory requirements and by evaluating available products and vendors.
  • Manages the installation, use, testing and maintenance of existing/new medical equipment systems.
  • Collaborates with information technology staff to integrate medical equipment systems with information systems applications.
  • Provides consultation and training on medical equipment systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or electronic engineering.

Certifications:

  • Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Work Experience:

  • Related previous experience and co-op/internship preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb 8-foot ladders and work on overhead equipment.
  • Ability to work in prone positions and in confined, darkened areas.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to use hand and power tools and work on small mechanical parts.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to distinguish between colors used for wire color coding and read finely printed blueprints and schematics.
  • Must be available for off-hour support and problem resolution.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
