Job Description

We are NBCUniversal's enterprise-wide Standards department. Our team develops and implements content policies that center our viewers and excite our collaborators, including creators, advertisers, and brand partners, in order to deliver the best experience for all audiences. We support innovative ad products and culture-defining entertainment programming while ensuring that NBCU’s advertising and program content reflects the sensibilities of our company and respects our diverse community of fans across broadcast, cable, and streaming.

We seek to add an experienced and highly motivated individual to our team. As the Senior Specialist, you will work to ensure that our content complies with internal and external standards, laws, and regulations while being cognizant of public policy and community acceptability considerations.  You will be expected to spot issues, think quickly, and make accurate decisions to maintain the integrity of NBCU. You will have prior content analysis experience and expertise, knowledge of ratings and compliance policies, as well as an understanding of shifting industry and cultural sensitivities. You will also possess effective communication, organizational and diplomatic skills. Success in this role requires that you thrive in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment, are comfortable working through ambiguity and can solve problems creatively and collaboratively.  This role will primarily support Peacock, but as we are an enterprise -wide, multi-disciplinary team, you will be expected to remain flexible and pitch in across the NBCU content ecosystem as needed.

This position is based in New York, New York or Los Angeles, California, and reports to the Manager, Standards, in New York. As we are a geographically distributed department with teams in Los Angeles, Miami, and New York, you will have the opportunity to partner effectively and seamlessly with colleagues across the department to achieve common goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Screen and evaluate original content in multiple programming formats (e.g., live, live-to-tape, animated, scripted and unscripted) from concept to locked final for compliance with Peacock standards, identify standards issues and corporate concerns, make sensitive contextual judgments, and assign Television Parental Guideline Ratings.
  • Review advertisements, integrations, and custom content, from concept to final edit to ensure they meet internal brand standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clearly articulated verbal and written notes and practical, constructive guidance on content that includes issues like excessive violence, explicit language, imitable behavior, commercial product placement and/or other visuals that may be unacceptable for air.
  • Vet third party channels and licensor content to ensure they meet Peacock’s brand standards.
  • Negotiate and collaborate with internal and external parties, including ad sales, programming executives, integrated marketing, writers, producers, creative agencies, advertising agencies, editors and legal counsel.
  • Evaluate all Peacock promos and ensure appropriate placement of promos within Peacock content.
  • Conduct weekly audits of platform ecosystem to ensure all content is accurately rated and properly displayed.
  • Provide guidance in an advisory capacity to business affairs, legal, and marketing.
  • Proactively monitor and analyze department systems and processes and develop and implement innovative ideas that improve the way we work.
  • Operate delay mechanism for live programming, including outside regular working hours.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of (3) years of experience working in standards and practices, trust and safety, content review, or equivalent role at a major consumer enter
