Junior Cybersecurity Analyst

Tyto Athene is searching for a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.
The Junior Cybersecurity Analyst Supports the enhancement of enterprise system security by assisting with Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance and cyber resiliency initiatives. This position is responsible for monitoring security events, performing initial incident triage, and assisting senior analysts with vulnerability assessments, security control validations, and compliance activities.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the development and review of RMF documentation, such as System Security Plans (SSPs), and assists system owners in categorization, assessment, and authorization activities
- Performs basic security assessments, monitors systems for potential threats, and analyzes incidents under the guidance of senior analysts
- Assists with vulnerability reviews, including evaluating advisories like IAVMs, and supports endpoint analysis and security audits
- Collaborates with other team members, provides hands-on experience with tools such as Splunk, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) systems to contribute to threat detection and response activities
- Provides foundational support for operations and maintenance of cybersecurity measures while developing the skills necessary to address emerging challenges in the cyber domain
Required:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- 0-3 years of cybersecurity or IT security experience
- Experience analyzing security events, alerts, and incidents response
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity tools, such as ACAS, HBSS, or Splunk
- Working knowledge of NIST 800-53, RMF, and STIGs
Desired:
- Associate’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
- Additional certifications such as CompTIA CySA+, Network+, or Cisco CyberOps Associate
- Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar)
- Understanding of DoD cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., RMF, NIST)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems
- Experience in a SOC or similar security operations environment
Clearance:
- TS/SCI clearance required
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE.
- Cybersecurity vendor certifications
