NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools is seeking a Part Time Researcher to support New York University's Department of Administration, Leadership & Technology, and to aid in research activities for a faculty research lab. This opportunity provides practical experience for individuals keen on academic research and administration.

We are seeking a Part-Time Researcher to support our team in the following ways, and
specifically to support the research agenda of Dr. Sophia Rodriguez:

Position Summary

● Assist in conducting literature reviews and gathering relevant research materials.
● Organize and maintain research databases and files.
● Provide administrative support for research projects, including scheduling meetings and
preparing materials.
● Assist faculty member with data analysis on projects
● Collaborate with faculty members and fellow research assistants on project-related
tasks.
● Contribute to the development and refinement of research methodologies.

The NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools is a
research and professional learning services center that supports equity-focused, evidence-
based innovations in educational research and programming. We operate as a complex
collective of multiple sub-units with different areas of specialization.

NYU Metro Center’s work falls into five categories: 1) technical assistance to districts and
schools; 2) professional learning to teachers and leaders; 3) applied research and evaluation of
district and school programs; 4) scholarly research conducted by NYU Metro Center
researchers and NYU faculty affiliates; and 5) youth development programs including college
readiness, youth-led advocacy and organizing, and youth participatory action research. NYU
Metro Center has a history of experience providing assistance and mobilizing resources to
address a variety of issues related to educational inequity, segregation, disproportionality,
discrimination of all kinds, and social injustice.

This role is a hybrid position. There will be no supervisory responsibilities. 

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range or hourly rate for
this position is [$30—35 hourly]. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited
to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

● Assist in conducting literature reviews and gathering relevant research materials. 10 %
● Organize and maintain research databases and files. 10%
● Provide administrative support for research projects, including scheduling meetings and
preparing materials. 25%
● Assist faculty member with data analysis on projects %25

Qualifications

Qualifications:

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Powerpoint suite and research databases.

Required
● Availability to work part-time during the specified duration (June 16-December 31, 2025)
● Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical research practices
● PhD in education, educational policy studies, urban education, or sociology of education
● Minium of 3 years experience managing or leading qualitative research teams
