Maintenance Service Supervisor at TCAT

Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Monday–Friday
Team Size: 12 FT Mechanics + Apprentices, 6 FT Bus Handlers/Fuelers
Fleet: Diesel & Battery-Electric Buses
 

Are you a seasoned diesel mechanic with a knack for leadership and a passion for mentoring the next generation of technicians? We’re looking for a Maintenance Service Supervisor to join our collaborative, safety-first team and help guide our evening shift into a new era of excellence.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and support a team of mechanics and apprentices on the swing shift.
• Assign and prioritize repair and maintenance tasks across a diverse fleet.
• Provide hands-on instruction in diagnostics, repairs, and tool use.
• Ensure compliance with NYS and federal transit maintenance regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, service hours, and inventory.
• Collaborate with the Parts Coordinator to keep our shop running smoothly.
• Step in for the Maintenance Manager when needed.

The Work Environment

You’ll work in a well-equipped shop with a supportive management team that values safety, communication, and continuous learning. Flexibility is appreciated as supervisors may occasionally cover other shifts to support operations.

What You Bring

• 6+ years of heavy equipment or diesel maintenance experience.
• 1+ year of supervisory or lead mechanic experience (union environment a plus).
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, drive trains, brakes, hydraulics, and electronic diagnostics.
• ASE certifications (T2, T3, T4) highly preferred.
• Experience with Gillig buses (diesel and battery-electric) is a big plus.
• CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements.
• A collaborative mindset and a passion for teaching others.
