SALARY: Per MEA Master Agreement
DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a compassionate and student-centered Elementary Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Teacher to support the academic, social, and emotional development of students in grades K-5. The SEL Teacher will provide direct instruction, collaborate with staff and families, and implement strategies that promote student well-being, positive relationships, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and a supportive school culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Elementary Education (ZG)
- Knowledge of social-emotional learning practices, trauma-informed approaches, restorative practices, and positive behavior supports.
- Training or experience with SEL frameworks such as CASEL competencies, PBIS, restorative practices, or trauma-informed practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners.
- Commitment to creating an equitable, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct SEL instruction and lessons aligned with district goals and student needs.
- Teach skills related to self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship building, and responsible decision-making.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to integrate SEL practices throughout the school environment.
- Support students through individual and small-group interventions focused on social-emotional skills.
- Build positive relationships with students and create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment.
- Assist staff in developing strategies to support student behavior, emotional regulation, and classroom community.
- Use data and observations to identify student needs and monitor progress.
- Communicate effectively with families and caregivers to support student success.
- Participate in professional development and implement evidence-based SEL practices.
- Support district initiatives focused on student belonging, wellness, and a positive school climate.
