GENERAL SUMMARY
The Senior Project Engineer reports to a Managing Director or Director and is responsible for daily project activities, quality control, and delivery.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

• Ability to oversee and perform all project phases from design to contract document and specification production, shop drawing checks, site visitation, and project closeout with general oversite.
• Excellent technical knowledge of civil engineering. 
• Possesses practical management communication and organizational skills and can plan, direct, and monitor all design aspects of projects. 
• Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in general terms and objectives. 
• Makes civil engineering design decisions independently and elevates complicated design decisions to the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager. 
• Directs and coordinates the workload with the assigned project team. 
• Coordinates with other internal and/or external team members. 
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the project development process, including construction, retail design, site planning, site engineering, structural, and MEP criteria related to civil engineering. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Excellent technical knowledge within the field of civil engineering.
• Coordinates, writes and/or edits specifications as applied to civil engineering.
• Strong leadership skills can meet deadlines and provide high-quality service to clients.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally and with integrity.
• Strong planning, organizing, time management, and multi-tasking skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to work, manage, and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to self-manage projects from start to finish, with oversight.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking ability.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Proficient in current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio or Form-Z, Photoshop, MS Word, and MS Excel.
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning codes, and approval processes related to civil engineering.
• Thorough understanding of building systems and site requirements related to civil engineering (Structural, MEP, Civil & Geo-Tech).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• 8 years of experience, with at least 5 years focused on shopping centers, big box retail centers, mixed-use projects, fueling centers, restaurants, banks, roll-out programs, and commercial projects.
• Licensure in civil engineering is preferred.
