JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records and reporting. This includes reconciling bank and investment accounts, assisting with the month-end close process, and providing support for audits and tax preparation. The Staff Accountant has a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience with financial reporting and analysis, and excellent attention to detail.

SOLA IMPACT AND NEW VENTURE

SoLa Impact is a real estate private equity firm with a double bottom line strategy focused on preserving, rehabbing, and building high-quality affordable housing in Black and brown communities. SoLa is Southern California's largest for-profit affordable housing developer and is currently in construction on over 2,000 affordable housing units across Southern California. SoLa currently owns and manages over $1.2 billion of multifamily assets, almost all of which are in low-income, Black and brown communities.

SoLa's new venture is reinventing multifamily housing creation by building the first and only standardized modular housing factory. The new venture is a comprehensive manufacturing system designed, engineered, and built to consistently produce a high-quality, low-cost, net-zero ready, and most importantly, standardized, modular housing product. This a Black-owned and operated business based in Southern California that will deliver between 1,000 – 1,500 modular housing units per year by 2025. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Organize and upload documents (workpapers, bank statements and bank reconciliations)
  • Process vendor invoices and employee expense reports
  • Manage bulk upload of various expenses, including utilities and insurance expense
  • Ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner
  • Prepare schedules and work papers for audits
  • Respond to audit and tax requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Support the preparation of tax returns, including federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile sub-ledger accounts
  • Prepare and record adjusting journal entries
  • Assist with the month-end close process, including preparing accruals, deferred rent, and other related journal entries

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or in place of a degree, 3+ years of relevant experience
  • 1-2 years’ accounting experience required; Yardi Voyager experience preferred
